| Vintage: | 2008 |
| Wine Type: | White Wine |
| Varietal: | Viogner |
| Appellation: | Temecula Valley |
| Tasting Notes: | Harvested between August 25th and 29th, our 2008 Viognier is fresh and exciting, offering delicate floral aromas of honeysuckle and orange blossom typical of this varietal. Partially barrel fermented and blended with small amounts of Roussanne and Marsanne, this wine is bursting with layers of apricot and melon and subtle hints of spice before a rich, lingering finish. |
| Vineyard Notes: | The 2008 growing season followed a winter of average rainfall in the, Temecula Valley. However, periods of “extreme” cold during bud-break resulted in a slightly smaller than average crop with many varietals. A mild summer made for ideal growing conditions, leading to near perfect harvesting conditions relative to grape chemistry and berry size for the white varietals even though harvest took place approximately ten days earlier than usual. Red varietals ripened beautifully beginning in mid-September through mid-October and showed great concentration, structure and color. |
| Winemaker Notes: | Harvested at an average of 26.1° Brix between August 25th and 29th, this wine was fermented at very cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks, with only a small amount being fermented in small French oak barrels, for a period of nearly three weeks until dryness, allowing the wine to retain the delicate fruit flavors and expression of each varietal. After fermentation and sur-lie aging in tank, the final blend was assembled and allowed to age further in tank before being bottled. |
| Food Pairing: | The rich aromas and rich fruit flavors of our 2006 Viognier pair wonderfully with light salads, sandwiches, and fish dishes. |
