Facebook Friends — Are You Connected?

To all our virtual community junkies...Whether we like to admit it or not, we all have one common guilty pleasure. What’s one of the first things you check when you wake up? And on your lunch break? And you know you do it before you go to bed, too! Whether you like to Facebook or “tweet,” everyone is doing it! Social media is at its peak right now and Leonesse is all for it!

Last month we posted a fun little challenge to our Wine Club family; we asked them to post their most memorable experience while enjoying a bottle of Leonesse wine. It could have been at a party, a celebration, an unexpected moment, etc. We told them we would select the most unique experiences, use them in our newsletter and also give away a special treat for the stories we selected. From some of our loyal Wine Club members, here are this month’s top stories:

My favorite memory that I have drinking one of your wines was at my sister’s Bachelorette wine tasting weekend a few years ago. All us sisters together in one place for the first time in years, having a great time in your tasting room trying your wonderful wines. We laughed, cried, and reminisced about the old times. So now every year on my sister’s anniversary, I get her a bottle of our favorite White Merlot. But this year I am getting her sparkling cider since she just found out she is pregnant. So I will be getting her the wine to welcome her baby to the world.

Friends of ours had friends from Napa visiting. They were taking them out to a local BYOB and invited us to come along. The couples from Napa lived on a winery and were truly into wine. My husband & I looked at each other...which wines do we bring? No question—Leonesse Meritage! Unique & delicious. It was a group of about 10 and all our collective bottles were opened as we tried them all. Everyone LOVED the Meritage (how could they not!). We talked about the beautiful winery and the Temecula region. The guy from Napa said it shamed the wine he brought! Our friends had been looking for wine to give as gifts to 2 serious wine connoisseurs and after that night, they had us order 3 bottles of Meritage for them. They haven’t questioned our judgment since!

One of my favorite memories of drinking Leonesse Port (my favorite) was after moving to Texas from California. We had all four of our children and their families here at Christmas. I was saving my Port for me, but I gave in and told them I have a special bottle of wine to share, so after pouring a small glass of Port in my great Port glasses from Leonesse I realized that the bottle was EMPTY, and so was my glass EMPTY. So we toasted how good it was to be together, and I didn’t tell them that I didn’t get to taste it with them (that’s what Mothers do). But not to worry, after Christmas I ordered my own bottle and enjoyed it all by myself one evening. It was so good. Thanks for the memories.

I have many wonderful wine memories but one that will always remain special to me was a family stroll thru the grapevines at  Leonesse on a beautiful winter day holding my newborn grandson in my arms & thinking how wonderful life was. We all went  to the barrel room & enjoyed an afternoon of delicious wine & good company. Life couldn’t have been any better!!

My husband (then fiancé) and I were in Temecula searching for the perfect winery to get married at. When we went to Leonesse,  it also happened to be a special night for Block 5 and they had an acoustic band playing. We were invited to stay for dinner so we could get a feel for the winery and the food. The combination of the amazing food, great music, and incredible wine was truly perfect. As we sipped on our Muscat Canelli, we looked at each other and knew that this is where we wanted to get married. That night I found my favorite wine, our wedding location, and even the band that played at our wedding :) Thank you, Leonesse!

My favorite memory at Leonesse ...well ...I had heard many great things about the wine from Leonesse and had eagerly been wanting to try some ...however I now live in San Antonio Texas ...and I really wanted to try the wine at the winery!! Well, we had a trip planned ...so we called one of my BFF’s to let her know we were coming out to visit! Jeannie Kramer is the Winemaker Tim Kramer's mom ...and our families grew up together!! So we planned this surprise trip ...our families ...Now ALL grown, were able to meet again! We shared dinner, non-stop conversation ...and some of the BEST wine I had EVER tasted!!! This is still the BEST Winery I have visited!!! Wine is more than a beverage ...it is a experience that is shared amongst the best of friends, and family!! Thanks Tim and the staff for such a GREAT EXPERIENCE!!

Try as hard as I might, I cannot think of only one Leonesse experience that ranks above all the others because I can honestly say every visit to Leonesse is special. The people who work there are knowledgeable but are like family, the premises and surrounding
views are wonderful and a comfortable environment in which to savor all of the wines on the tasting list whether they be white, rose, sweet, red or the heavenly port and of course the Wine Club events are outstanding. I can hardly wait to get back from Canada to begin the enjoyment anew. In retrospect, the best moment would be when I made the easy decision to join the Wine Club and make it possible to continue to enjoy all that Leonesse has to offer. See you soon.
